How does Garner work?

Garner uses data science to identify the top 20% of doctors. These Top Providers practice based on the latest medical research, successfully diagnose problems, produce the best patient outcomes, and get the highest patient satisfaction ratings. After seeing Top Providers, Garner reimburses your qualifying out-of-pocket medical costs.

1. Create a Garner account online at getgarner.com or by downloading the Garner Health app. 2. Find Top Providers in the Garner Health app or website. Doctors with a Top Provider badge are automatically added to your list of approved providers. 3. See your Top Provider. 4. Get reimbursed for qualifying out-of-pocket medical costs on or after the date the provider was added to your list.

What types of medical costs qualify for reimbursement?

Your out-of-pocket medical costs will qualify if: You have created a Garner account and added the provider prior to the date of service; Your provider is in-network and the cost was covered by your health insurance plan; The type of cost qualifies under your specific Garner plan. If your plan is paired with an HSA, you will need to incur costs greater than the minimum deductible.

Does Garner have a financial relationship with the medical providers they recommend?

No. Recommendations are based solely on independent analysis, not commissions or fees. Garner has no financial relationships with doctors.

Is Garner my health insurance?

No. Garner is not your health insurance. Garner is a separate benefit that is paired with your health insurance plan to help you find the best providers and reduce the amount you must pay out of pocket before you meet your insurance deductible. Garner is a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) and is funded entirely by your employer.

Garner applies more than 550 proprietary clinical metrics to one of the largest medical claims databases in the country, covering over 60 billion records from 320 million patients. Doctors are evaluated on patient outcomes, complication rates, adherence to evidence-based clinical guidelines, and cost efficiency, then ranked against peers in the same specialty and local market.

How long does it typically take to receive a reimbursement from Garner?

Most members receive their reimbursement about 5 to 6 weeks after the date of service when direct deposit is set up, or 6 to 8 weeks if a check is mailed. The timing depends largely on how quickly the provider's billing department submits the claim to the health insurance plan, since Garner reimburses after the insurance company processes the claim.

Setting up direct deposit in the Garner Health app is the fastest path, and the Concierge team will reach out directly if any additional details are needed before a payment goes out.

What does the Garner member experience look like?

Members use the Garner Health app to search for in-network doctors by name, specialty, condition, or ZIP code, with Top Providers marked by a green badge. When members see a Top Provider, Garner reimburses their qualifying out-of-pocket medical costs, such as copays, office visits, tests, and surgeries, through an employer-funded Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA).

Additionally, a Concierge team is available by message or email for personalized help, including adding providers, answering benefit questions, and resolving claims.
